Read I see the best in others and appreciate them for it

I do my best to see the best in others and appreciate them for it. We are all created in the image of God, and therefore, each person has their own unique gifts and abilities, value and worth. By looking beyond surface appearances and seeking the good in others, I foster a spirit of love, encouragement, and unity.

In my interactions with others, I aim to honour all people and build them up. I do my best, as long as it depends on me, to be at peace with everyone. When I’m confronted with hostility, in that moment, I ask Holy Spirit to show me the “gold” He sees in that person. I want to see what God loves about them. What has been violated in them to assume the worst in me? When I affirm in them the good things God impresses to me about them, the atmosphere of the moment shifts. His kingdom comes and His will is done.

I understand the importance of encouraging one another and supporting each other in our journeys. It is not only about focusing on our own interests, but also genuinely caring for the well-being and interests of others.

Having a humble mindset helps me to count others as more significant than myself. This means recognizing and valuing the strengths and contributions of others without comparing or competing with them. It is about fostering unity, sympathy, and brotherly love.

Today, Jesus’ commandment to love one another serves as my guiding principle. By following His example of choosing selfless love, I can truly see the best in others and appreciate them for who they are.

Reflection Questions to ask Holy Spirit:

  1. How can I cultivate a genuine spirit of appreciation for the strengths and qualities of others?
  2. In what ways can I actively encourage and build up others, both in my words and actions?
  3. Am I truly seeking to understand and value the interests and well-being of others, or am I primarily focused on my own needs and desires?
